Sweden's got...soul?

Yep.

The voice coming out of this face does not compute, but Paul Mac Innes is one soulful cunningham.
I'm sure I'll get a late pass on this one, but Mukatsuku Records (UK by way of Japan...releasing a Swedish group...yeah.) just dropped a limited 7" by Paul Mac Innes & T.B.O.I. that I'm digging in a major way. I bought (yes, paid for!) the MP3 I'm posting below, so if you're feeling it, go to iTunes or Amazon and support these dudes by copping their new self titled album.

he's a little d'angelo-ish but that's not a bad thing.....we need more muzak like that comin out

hey, I heard a rumor d'angelo got some new material comin out and he got all pissed at ?uestlove for leakin some stuff out on the internet....(how's that new dwele album? I think "some kinda" was an amazing album. The concept and flow of it compares to "mama's gun". I still rock it when chillin around the casita. I'm still pissed it didn't come out on vinyl though.....i hope they press the new album...

but I digress:
of course the japanese picked this dude up and put out some 45's......one thing about japan I noticed while I was out there, even though trends come and go in a flash, you got people who are truly dedicated and breakdown whatever style it may be and make it their life long mission to preserve it (from a japanese state of mind of course).....

Only there can you have a whole club full of people rockin out to dope house (good house music, can you believe it??) with jazz musicians rockin over the rhythms, they still "authentically" like drum and bass, Osaka monorail is literally the best and funnest james brown cover band I have ever seen (if you closed your eyes, you would second guess if the voice was japanese, but this japanese brotha had moves and the spirit....by the way, they got some funky 45's out),

The "Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra" is another group who have some of the funnest and best showmanship I have ever seen, a must go to show incase they roll through Palm Springs, this dude who's only been deejayin for like 2 years played the best dancehall set I heard in years....waaaay fresher than most of the bay area dancehall deejays/crews, and there's a big scene in the bay, jazz-dance music(for lack of better term) is played on the "best" sound systems you ever heard.....walls of speakers but clean, deep rich bass (not muddy and blown out), and lovely mids and highs.....

next....

whoops, I forgot, my homie out in Kyoto hooked me up with some mix cd's by this relatively unknown deejay named "Yoshizawa Dynamite" Latin Excercise A,B,C,D,E,&F (different cd's). The C & D mix is an amazing deejay mix....His cuts, song selection, and transitions, use of delays, is I think a mixtape work of art.....I think you would appreciate...I really want to meet him and see him spin someday....

anyways, if you would like any copies, I can hook you up, but I'm sure you can find stuff on the net too.....he's also got some straight up jazz-funk mixes too....some deep crates too, I don't have any idea what the stuff is.....the japanese take diggin on some crazy shite....I heard they got places for the "serious $$$ collectors" go into these back hidden spots and buy who knows what....

Someone mentioned D'Angelo....I also hear a bit of Maxwell. I agree, we need more music like this. Can't wait to buy this album.
